カニクイザル2頭を使用し、実験開始一ヵ月前より口腔清掃を徹底し、健康歯周組織を確立した。左下顎臼歯部をテスト側として使用し、右側をコントロール側とした。実験側にリガチャーワイヤーを歯頚部に3ヶ月間結紮し歯周炎を惹起させた。その後歯周治療を行うが、1頭の実験側では歯周治療とともに非ステロイド系抗炎症剤である0.5%フルルビプロフェン含有口腔用剤(FP)の局所塗布を行い、臨床症状や歯槽骨がどの程度改善されるか検討した。調査項目として(1)臨床検査;Pl.l,G.I,Probing depth(PD),Attachment Level(AL),BOP,動揺度、GCF量(2)GCF中のPGE_2量(3)X線規格撮影によるデジタルサブトラクション法を用いた歯槽骨頂部のX線不透過性の定量を行った。初期治療開始時を0Wとして0W,2W,4W,6W,12Wに臨床診査とPGE_2量、0W,6W,12WにX線規格撮影を行った。その結果、臨床診査項目では動揺度以外ではテスト群、コントロール群共に改善がみられたが、両群間の有意差はみられなかった。これは塗布した薬剤の効果よりも歯周治療の効果が大きく影響したためと考えられる。BOP陽性率ではテスト群で0Wから6Wにかけて著名に減少し、12Wでリバウンドが観察された。この結果は薬剤の効果が現れた可能性を示唆する。PGE_2量では両群とも同じ変動傾向を示し特に差はみられなかった。歯槽骨の改善については両群において数歯で12Wに歯槽骨頂部に骨の添加認められた。さらに咬合性外傷を加えた状態で同様の実験を継続中である。
