本奨励研究は、当初の計画・方法に従って研究を行い、以下の成果を収めた。(1)連続音声の文節的特徴の評価:自然かつ流暢に発声した音声における文節的特徴の劣化の程度を調べるために、同一内容を無表情で丁寧に読み上げた音声資料を用いて、知覚的な比較を行った。その結果、流暢に発声された音声では、主として母音部分の特徴の変動が大きく、先行あるいは後続する単音を含めた文脈を与えることにより知覚の精度が高まり、特に「子音+母音」という文脈よりも「母音+子音」という文脈の方が知覚において有効であることを明らかにした。また、先行および後続の単音を含めた文脈とすることにより、ほとんどの単音が正しく知覚されることが分かった。(2)発話様式が発話速度に及ぼす影響の分析手法の開発:同一テキストを種々の発話様式で発声した音声間の局所的な発話速度の違いを定量的に表現するために、2つの異なる発話様式の音声に対して、DTWを用いて時間軸上の対応付けを行い、その結果を用いて音声中の任意の時点における発話速度比を求める手法を開発・提案し、若干の音声資料を用いてその有用性を示した。なお、この手法を用いることにより、言語的役割が発話速度に及ぼす影響を詳細かつ客観的に分析することが可能となった。本研究の期間内では十分な量の分析および応用を行うには至らなかったが、特に、音声合成分野の研究に関して、重要な分析手法を開発することができた。
