本研究の目的は、課題解決能力から見たときの成員の能力の均質性・異質性がグループ協同学習事態における集団の課題遂行と集団活動に対する成員の満足度に及ぼす影響について、実験的に解明することにあった。大学生6から7名を一つのグループとし、このグループ単位で実験が行われた。実験手続きは、基本的には、(1)個人の課題解決能力の測定、(2)集団討議によるグループでの課題解決、(3)満足度を中心とした従属変数の測定、(4)実験者による正解の発表と集団過程についての説明、という4つのステップによりなされた。集団レベルでの分析の結果、事前の個人の課題解決能力が高い成員からなるグループにおいて、そのグループのパフォーマンス(グループによる正解数)も高くなること、課題解決能力から見たときの成員の能力の均質性に関わらず、自分がグループでの活動に貢献したと自己評価している成員ほど、グループ活動に対しての満足度も高く評定する傾向にあることが見いだされた。これらの知見は、従来の集団過程に関する整合性を考慮する上で、興味深いものであった。今後は、個人レベルでの分析と併せて、両者を統合する形での議論の展開が求められているといえよう。
