项目摘要

集団討議中に生じたコンフリクト(意見の不一致)が、態度変容に及ぼす影響について検討した。集団討議が態度変容に及ぼす効果としては、討議前よりも態度が極端になる集団成極化現象が知られている。従来、この現象は全員一致の討議集団にみられ、不一致に終わった討議集団には起こらないものとされてきた。本研究では不一致集団においても態度変容がみられること、態度変容の方向と量は、討議前の意見の分散に依存することを仮説として実験を行った。第1実験では、大学生129名を対象として、集団成極化実験を行い、全員一致に達した討議集団と不一致に終わった討議集団の態度変化量を比較した。実験の結果、全員一致集団は不一致集団に較べて成極化の程度が強いこと、また、一致・不一致いずれの集団も、討議前の意見分散が大きいほど成極化の程度が強いことが示された。第2実験では、短期大学生220名を対象として、討議前の意見分散による条件分析を行った。不一致集団は、討議前の意見の分散によって態度変容の方向が逆転する結果が見いだされた。討議前の分散が大きい場合には、弱い成極化現象が見いだされるが、討議前の意見の分散が小さかったにも関わらず討議の結果が不一致に終わった集団には、反成極化現象(討議前の態度とは逆の方向に意見が変化する)が見いだされた。これらの結果は、従来、少数者の影響過程としてとらえられてきた革新現象に関して、異なる集団過程を仮定できる可能性を示唆している。すなわち、集団内のコンフリクトによる革新現象である。
