(1)本研究は、「郷土教育運動」として研究史上に位置づけられる1930年代の郷土教育論を実際に教育を担った小学校の動態を重視し、小学校を財政的に支えた村(=郷土)と教育とのかかわりを中心に据えて、「郷土教育運動」が村(=郷土)において、いかなるものとして展開されたのかを、運動の背景をも含めて、小学校をめぐる村民・訓導・児童の場から問いなおすことを目的としたものである。平成6年度においては、茨城県常陸三浜地帯(漁村、ひたちなか市)および東京都北区(都市部)における「郷土教育運動」の背景と展開過程を、下記の研究方法と計画により遂行した。●研究方法・各小学校所蔵の『学校沿革雑』『学級日誌』『郷土読本』、教材・教具の整理・目録化・郷土資料室・図書館・自治体史編纂室所蔵の郷土教育資料の収集・整理・文書資料調査および聞き書き調査●研究計画・4〜5月 東京都北区域・7〜8月 茨城県常陸三浜地帯・10月 補充調査・1月 補充調査
