本研究の企画の契機となったのは、『十訓抄』研究の過程において、その内容を成す説話の出典研究のみならず、その作品としての方法についての研究を推進するためには、ひろく、中古・中世の学問世界における説話伝承の様態を把握し、そのような場で伝承された説話の方法が如何に当代の文学作品に影響を与えたのかという問題について調査研究することが必要であると考えたことである。そこで、本年度の研究においては、主として院政期から鎌倉期の歌学の世界における説話伝承の様相を把握すべく研究を進めることにした。具体的には、『俊頼髄脳』の諸本、即ち顕昭本完本たる京都大学付属図書館本『無名抄』・静嘉堂文庫『無名抄』、国会図書館蔵定家本、『唯独自見抄』系の書陵部本・島原松平文庫本・彰考館本等の写真を入手し、京都大学本『無名抄』を中心として、他の諸本を参照しながら、『俊頼髄脳』所収の説話の読解を進めるとともに、『和歌童蒙抄』『和歌色葉』『色葉和難抄』等の後続の歌学書への『俊頼髄脳』所収説話の伝承の様態について調査をおこなった。その結果、(1)『俊頼髄脳』には小学館日本古典文学全集所収の橋本不美男氏の注釈があるものの、まだまだ注釈研究上の問題が存在すること、(2)『俊頼髄脳』に後続する『和歌童蒙抄』『和歌色葉』『色葉和難抄』等の歌学書やそうした歌学の世界と密接に関わり合う中世の『伊勢物語』『古今集』の注釈書への『俊頼髄脳』所収説話の伝承と変容にはきわめて興味深い問題が多々存在すること、等があきらかになってきた。そのような問題のうち、『俊頼髄脳』にみえる俊頼歌(『散木奇歌集』856番歌)と説話をともなったその注釈の、『和歌童蒙抄』『和歌色葉』を経て『色葉和難抄』『彰考館本伊勢物語抄』への伝承と変容の問題についての考察については、平成6年11月26日の高地大学国文学会において「『散木奇歌集』856番歌とその注釈について」という論題で研究発表をおこなった(この発表の内容は、『高地大国文』第26号に投稿予定で準備中である)。以上が、本年度の研究実績の概要であるが、本研究課題においてはなお考究すべき未解決の問題も多く、さらに継続して研究を推進してゆく必要があると考えられる。
