製品開発のコンテクストにおいて、多様な職能部門が相互に重複しながら製品開発を進めていくことの重要性は広く認識されている。本年はこのうち製品開発活動の成否に大きく関わっているR&D職能とマーケティング職能との間にインターフェイスの問題に焦点をあて研究を進めてきた。まず、研究開発の領域における最近の研究の成果からR&D職能担当者とマーケティング職能担当者との間の情報の交換に影を及ぼす組織的な状況を明らかにした。Moenaert and Souder(1990)は役割外の行動という概念を利用し両職能担当者での情報と移転,程度を説明しようと試みた。さらにMoenaert,Sauder,De Meyer and Descheolmeester(1994)の研究では両職能担当者間での情報,移転はプロジェクトの公式化、分 化、職能部門間のポジティブな雰囲気そして役割のフレキシビリティを伴う状況のもとで増大することが示されている。次に管理会計システムの設計が上記の変数を媒介として、または直接的に両職能担当者間の情報の交換に及ぼす影響について考察した。その結果、伝統的な管理可能性、原則に基づく管理会計システムの設計は管理者の管理会計システムへの公平性の知覚を高める一方で、部門間の情報の交換に対して抑制的に機能する可能性がある。逆に部門間の情報交換を促進することを意図した管理会計システムの設計は管理者の責任の所在を不明確にすることを通じて長期間には管理者の目標達成に対する動機づけを減じる可能性がある。
