项目摘要

一般のフックス群がPL化可能かという問題は非常に難しく一部のものがPL化可能である事が知られているだけである。実際,Ghys,Sergiescu 3によりSL(2,Z)が、またGhys 松元、皆川により種数2以上の閉曲面上の双曲構造から得られるFuchs群はPL化可能であることが知られている。1つめのPL化は、treeのendに使用する群としての構造を用いたものであり、2つめは、有界コホモロジーを用いたものである。そこには、どちらにも双曲幾何が深く関係していると思われるのだが、今のところ、これといった共通性は見いだせない。これは大問題である。最近橋口,BrunelaによりAnosou流を用いた方法で三角群のPL化が独立に発見されているようである。私は、Ghys 松元、皆川で用いた方法がココンパクトなフックス群に拡張できるのではないかという視点で研究を進めている。ココンパクトなフックス群は結晶群の構造をもつ。結晶群に対してはHomeo+S^1への表現に対してオイラー数が定ギできるが、これに対し、Milnor-Wood型の不等式が成立することがわかる。これが1つめの結果である。フックス群に対しては、自然に不等式が極大となる結晶群からの表現が見つかる。次が2つめの結果で、各結晶群からオイラー数が極大となるPL表現が存在する。これらは全てフックス群と位相共役になると予想される。今後の課題としては、これらのPL表現から得られる葉層S束を調べる必要がある。そのために、現在はそれらの表現がフックス群の場合と同様に単射になるかを調べている最中である。
