公共広場の事例をできるだけ意匠設計や立地条件の異なる広場(アメリカ、フランス、イタリアの諸都市の広場,京都市域における立地条件が異なる公共広場)を対象として抽出し、意匠調査(デザインサーベイ)と文献資料調査を行った。とくに、(1)意匠設計に対する考え方(配置・レクリエーション施設要素・素材)、(2)公共広場が立地する環境条件との関係性(周囲景観へのおさまり)、(3)緑地(植栽)系統のモデルパターン、(4)利用実体調査(動線調査)(5)デザイン評価に関する調査分析を行い、データシートの作成をカード型データベースに整理することができた。また、公共広場のデザインを進める上で、環境との関係を考慮した平面構成の秩序化の方法論を求めるために、上記で収集したアメリカの広場のうち、モダニズムの代表的な作品を対象の平面図への分析を試みた。その結果、軸やグリッドの基線を共有化することによって、両者の関係づけがなされる例が見られた。例えば、ニューヨークの近代美術館の例のように、建築物の柱のグリッドに対応して、広場やファニチュアや舗装のモジュールなどが割り当てられている例が見られた。また、外部環境の建築物等の中心線上に、広場の中心が揃えられており、両者の対比的な関係が強調される場合が観察できた。このような分析をもとに、平面構成からみた環境と広場の関係として5つの類型が得られた。最後に、これらの研究の成果を整理し、学会誌へ発表した。

The relationship between the environment and the field is analyzed and the type is obtained. Finally, the results of this research are sorted out and the society is willing to present them.
