本研究は、都市景観表現の手法として、実写、模型撮影映像、CG映像などを比較し、景観検討のプロセスの中での表現の技術、質の比較を行うことを目的としている。研究の対象として日本を代表する商業地区である銀座をとりあげ、実写映像、模型映像、ボリューム模型映像の3種類の素材を作成した。このうち、模型映像とは通常の建築模型とは異なり、現況写真をコンピュータ上で補正し平面のファサードをスタイロフォームに貼り付けた簡易的なものであるが、ビデオ映像を通して視覚的にとらえた場合、高いリアリティが得られ、簡便性と表現の質のバランスに優れていることが明らかになった。さらに、人々が景観をとらえる際の評価基準を考察するため、形態のプロポーションのみに着目し、建築物の高さ、間口、セットバックを変化させた複数のパターンに応じて、メタモデルを作成した。このモデルはファサード等の要素を備えず、単にプロポーションのみを表現するモデルである。次に、景観検討における表現手法の比較を行うため、実写および模型映像、メタモデルの3種について、同様のシミュレーションビデオを作成し、SD法を用いた評価実験を行った。その結果、実写と模型映像の間には相関が認められる形容詞対が比較的多いことが明らかになった。そしてメタモデルの場合には、圧迫感等の形容詞対について実写との評価の類似性が認められ、またこれらの評価は天空率、壁面率等との物的指標との関係性も認められるにいたった。
