Through the scrutiny into Jokonn, multi-grooved surface treatment, on the final Jomon and initial Yayoi pottery, it is highly probable that the treatment is not by the products of shell molluscus, as is commonly accepted, but by a characteristic tool for the making pottery exclusively. Experimental reconstruction is good accordance with those from enearthed objects. The tool has a genuine comb-like structure of small bamboo sticks, different from present of a solid plate with teeth, combined to a wooden axis with diagonal stling. Classification and designation of this tool are as follows : trimmed vs.untrimmed teeth, convex, concave and those mixed sticks and so on.
