第31回全国身体障害者スポーツ大会出場者のスポーツ活動の実態とその問題点を明らかにすることを目的とする調査を実施した。調査期間は、1995年10月28日から11月30日までとした。調査方法は、各選手団の代表者に調査票の配布を依頼し、回答者が個別に返送するという留め置き郵送調査法を用いた質問紙調査とした。有効回収数は791票(男:553,女:238)であり、有効回収率は61.9%であった。調査内容は以下の通りである。1.スポーツ実施状況:(1)練習頻度・時間 (2)利用するスポーツ施設と所要時間 (3)スポーツを一緒にする人2.障害の発生とスポーツ活動:障害発生の年齢、スポーツの開始及び継続における重要な他者 等3.スポーツのメリットとスポーツ実施阻害要因4.スポーツをするときの意識:(1)勝負 (2)大会 (3)技術 (4)ルール (5)エリート意識5.本大会に関連して:(1)出場種目 (2)過去の出場経験 (3)参加種目継続の意志 (4)個人種目出場制限の賛否6.基本的属性:(1)性 (2)年齢 (3)障害の等級 (4)障害の部位 (5)障害区分 等上記の項目についてのデータを得て、単純集計によって全体の傾向、そしてクロス集計によって項目間の関連性を検討した。この調査結果の中で特に注目すべきことは、利用できるスポーツ施設の不足が1番大きなスポーツ実施阻害要因であったことである。76.8%の人が「利用できる施設が少なくて困る」と回答した。この項目に関して、通学している学校施設を使用できない30〜40代の人、障害の部位が視覚或いは下肢である人、障害の程度が重い人において、利用できる施設が少なくて困ると答えた人の割合が大きくなっていた。その他の詳細な調査結果は、日本体育学会第47回大会で発表するとともに徳島文理大学研究紀要(53号)に投稿する予定である。
