まず以下の2点を明らかにした。(1)既存の産業連関表分析手法に対する、国際産業連関表分析の適用投入-算出分析など、一般に多く用いられている分析手法を中心に行った。その結果、特に、環太平洋地域では、他のマクロデータによって十分立証されている、特定の国の間の産業間の結びつきが、アメリカ、日本など取引額の大きな国に引っ張られる形で、産業連関表分析としては有為な数字として得られないなど規模の問題が明らかになった。また、計今回の計算は高性能なWSとプログラムによって行ったが、国際産業連関表のようにマトッリクスが1000以上に達すると、逆行列などの計算に精度的な問題が起きることを、暫定的に示した。(2)既存の産業連関表の整合性の検討複数の産業連関表を検討、また、各種の貿易マトリックスとも整合性を調査した。その結果、為替の扱いが非常に大きな問題としてクローズアップされた。これは各種統計データが、年間を通して、いつの時点の為替レートで表の整合性を計っているかによって異なる。特に、発展著しいNIES諸国が関連している表は、同年度であったも、データ相互の整合性が取れていないことが明確であった。以上より、既存の手法を国際産業連関表に適用することは適当ではないとの結論に達した。そこで、今回提案するモデルでは、国際産業連関表を国単位の産業連関表へと変換し、個々に投入行列化する。その産業連関表を階層化させ、各層間の結びつきを、3次元的なベクトルで表現する、全く新しい手法を開発した。現在、視覚的に表現する方法など最終段階を迎えている。いくつかの研究機関に対して、暫定版プログラムを提示し、その理論的裏付けと視覚的表現方法の評価を受けている。その他、既存の産業連関表分析手法についても、汎用性のあるプログラムとして完成させており、上記の新手法と同様、広く配布する予定である。
