本申請では,皮膚圧迫をともなう姿勢の変化による生体反応の誘発とその解析を目的としていた.そのために,まずどのような姿勢が人間にとって最もリラックスした姿勢か,緊張した姿勢か,あるいは少ない酸素でも耐え得るのかを検討する方向で研究を進めてきた.そのことは短期的には,皮膚圧迫反射(Nakamura al.,1990)の概念を導入することによって,身体各部の圧迫刺激が体位変化を誘起すると同時に,中枢神経機能の促進・抑制を誘発可能とし,この研究結果の解析からMinimum Energy(体温の第二次化学調節)での生存域を規定できる事も期待されるという狙いがあったし,また長期的には,これらの研究から,もしセルフコントロールにより人間の体温調節が可能であったり,あるいは基礎代謝量を意図的に低下させることが可能であるのならば,例えば急激な温度変化にも短期間で順化できる,冷房病などの予防になる,遭難時の延命に結びつくなどといった効果が期待できるものと考えられていた.具体的には,「東洋」という地域的枠組みの中から,まずネパールの女性を対象に,その体格を調査し(発表結果裏面参照),同時に24時間の生活時間調査を実施した.そうしてその中からどのような姿勢が,日常生活の中に多く見られるかを検討した(発表結果裏面参照).しかし,フィールドワーク(実地調査)においては,予測できない事態が多発し(発表結果裏面参照),生活の中での姿勢パターンは見いだせたものの,期待すべき生体反応の解析データを収集するには至らなかった.今後はフィールドワークを重視しつつ,本申請課題について,より深い研究へと発展させていきたい.
