The far right in the German-speaking world

This study is intended to obtain data for a phenomenon of the far right in Germn-speaking world in 1990s(untill 1998) and come to a conclusion that the spirit of tolerance against foreigners is in Germany on the decrease under existing conditions. The speech of Martin Walser on Frankfurt Bookfair in 1998 might be a sign that the atmosphere in Germany has changed.Acts of violence against foreigners have increased dramatically since 1991 in Germany. But in 1994, violence against foreigners plummeted. Therefore, extreme right violence also fell as a whole. The decrease was a dramatic percent change. Government authorities were particularly pleased with the development.According to the Annual Report of Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Federal Ministry of the Interior), the trends are generally downward. When we study the Annual Report, we find that the Report lacks consistency in its presentation of the statistics. According to our analysis, the trend of the violence are generally upward, particulary in 1998.In addition, one must take attention to the fact that the number of far right violence ist much higher than in 1980s.
