The fabrication process of intermetallic compound Ni_3Al using the infiltration of molten aluminum into sintered nickel been investigated. And the results were published in the J.Japan Inst. of Metals, Materials Science and Engineering and so on. By the infiltration of molten Al-Ni alloy into the sintered nickel having 30% porosity, Ni_3Al is formed without the change in the shape and size of sintered nickel. This process is accomplished within 1s. Therefore, this process can be the new fabrication process for Ni_3Al. These phenomena must be one of the wetting process.We have been published many papers which described these phenomena as a reactive wetting.The wetting phenomena between solid nickel and molten aluminum, we published many papers in international journals from the view point of reactive wetting. On the other hand, we succeeded the wetting phenomena without interfacial reaction using Ni_3Al/Al-Ni system. As for the wetting phenomena, we defined equilibrium wetting. In these days, we try to fabricate Nb_3Al intermetallic compound using this technique. Moreover, as for the model of mass transfer system, we try to make clear the influence of mass transfer on wetting phenomena using NaCl/H_2-NaCl system.
