頚肩腕障害、筋疲労性腰痛に代表される筋疲労性疾患の発症要因としては、長期間にわたる局所筋負担、精神的ストレス、運動習慣などの生活の状況、筋力レベルなどの主体的要因などが挙げられる。このうち、精神的ストレスについては、多様なストレス症状の一発現形態として筋疲労症状が訴えられる場合と、ストレスが筋緊張を高め、その結果として筋疲労症状を発症させる場合があると考えられている。筋疲労発現に関与する精神的ストレスとしては、負荷される作業自体が精神的ストレッサーとなる場合と、負荷作業を遂行する主体が精神的ストレスを事前に被っている状態で作業を負荷される場合とが考えられるが、これらの精神的ストレスが局所筋疲労の発現に与える影響を明らかにすることことを目的として、実験的研究を実施した。作業負荷としては、画面に表示される数値を認識し、出来る限り早く対応する数値キーを打鍵させた。筋負担の指標としては、表面電極筋電図のAPD分析、および周波数分析を用い、精神的ストレスの評価には、各種の問診票と尿中カテコールアミン、心拍数周波数変動分析法などを用いた。負荷作業中の精神的負荷として、上記作業負荷に精神的負荷を加え、その影響を分析した。精神的負荷としては、表示数値を一定の順序で負荷する場合と、ランダムに表示する場合、および暗算のデュアルタスクを追加負荷した場合などで比較検討した。その結果、1)集団的に見ると、精神的作業負荷の大きい作業では、肩腕部の筋緊張が増大すること、2)精神的ストレスに関する質問紙、尿中カテコールアミン排泄量、心拍の揺らぎなどから判定して精神的緊張度の高いものは、低い者に比べ、筋緊張度は精神的作業負荷の影響をより受けやすいこと、3)性格テストあるいは、特性不安により有意な筋緊張度の相違は認められないことなどが明らかとなった。
