研究の初年度である平成8年度には、主として開発・設計段階での原価情報の作成方法やコスト・テーブルや各種支援ツールの適用状況について詳細なモニターを実施した。その結果、企画開発段階、設計構想段階、詳細図段階において、適用される原価見積の手法が相違しており、またその適用目的を異なっていることが判明した。すでに、本研究において、この体系については整理が進んでいる。特に、コスト・テーブルという呼称に呼ばれている管理ツールは、単に開発段階での原価推定のみに用いられるだけのものではなく、目標原価設定、設計品質の設定、部品やユニットのコスト目標達成方法の評価など多様な利用がなされており、そのデータベース化の方法も利用目的によって、(1)仕様とコストとの関係のテーブル、(2)性能とコストとの関係のテーブル、(3)機能と方式との関係のテーブル、(4)仕様、需要量、顧客層の関連表、(5)方式とコストとの関係のテーブルなどが利用されつつある。この領域のデータベースをコストテーブルに中でも機能テーブルとして再定義し、開発ステップとの関係で体系化することを試みた。その成果はすでに論文にまとめている。多くの企業の協力により、相当に掘り下げたヒアリング調査と緊密な意見交換が実施できた。また、今後2年間の継続的な協力の合意もとりつけている。当初予定よりも、研究の進捗度が早く推移しており、初年度に原価情報の作成方法に加えて、原価見積支援ツールの詳細な内容にまで踏み込んだ調査とその成果の体系化を図ることができた。
