Protective immune responses in enteromucosa tissues of cats infected with Toxoplasma gondii

1) Identification of interleukin 12 in various tissue organs of cats infected with Toxoplasma gondii ; Interleukin 12 -35kD and -40 kD subunits of cats were identified by RT-PCR.In the spleen and mesenteric lymphnodes of cats reinfected with T.gondii, IL-12 40kD subunit was expressed transiently post reinfection.2) Detection of secretory IgA and its protective roles in enteromucosa tissues of cats ; Anti-T.gondii antibody IgA was detected in feces and intestinal washings ofcats infected with T.gondii. Supplement of the washings in the culture medium suppressed the parasite penetration activity of feline embryonic fibroblasts.3) Stage-spcific antigens associated with gametogenesis of Toxoplasma gondii ; Enteroepithelial stage parasites were isolated by Percoll density gradient centrifugation. Enteroepithelial stage parasite specific antigens were detected by antisera of mice and cats immunized with the parasites.
