项目摘要

本研究は、Ⅰ現在、野良猫のいる社会といない社会の比較による要因析出、Ⅱ現在は野良猫のいない社会における野良猫の消滅過程の解明、Ⅲ現在は野良猫のいる社会のうち日本やイタリアのように野良猫の存在態様が狭められている現状の解明、Ⅳ上記３領域の成果を踏まえた家畜人文学・家畜社会科学の新たな方法体系の開拓という四側面を有する。2022年度は研究の初年度に当たるため、研究組織外の専門家からも教授いただき、現在の猫の存在態様と、現在にいたるその変化について多面的に認識することと、そのために必要な図書など文献資料と、一次史料の存在を探り、それらを収集することに着手した。４回の研究会を開催したほか、メイルを通じて研究組織内部の情報共有と意見交換に務めた。研究会には、外部から長田啓氏(環境省自然環境局総務課・調査官)と柴内晶子氏(赤坂動物病院院長)をお招きし、日本における猫の存在態様とその変化について教えを受けた。内部では、北村陽子、小野塚知二、山井敏章、鈴木鉄忠、宮崎理枝が、各自が担当する調査の中間的な成果について報告した。また、2023年度以降の国内および海外での実態超および史料調査の可能性について検討した。これらの研究活動の結果、以下の命題を仮設するにいたった。すなわち、(1)日本では平安次代以降ほぼ20世紀末までは、猫の主要な存在態様は、人からは自立して歩いて鼠・鳥・小動物を捕食し、他の猫と自由に交わることであったが、現在は、そうした(本研究の定義での野良猫の)存在態様は狭められつつある。(2)現在の日本では「野良猫」という語・概念がメディアや行政など公の場から排除されつつあるが、それと同種の語・概念の貶化は、英・独において野良猫が消滅した過程にも発見されうる。2023年度以降はこれら仮説を、実証・検証する。また、その成果を論文・学会発表などの仕方で外に問うべきことも確認された。

This study is divided into three parts: I. Separation of the essential factors in the comparison between the present and the society of the wild cat; II.
