In order to set up a program for people with latent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, this investigation was conducted by epidemiological survey in the HCV endemic area where the prevalence of HCV infection was found to be 32.4%. From the survey, we obtained following results ;1. From analysis of the death certificate in this area, death from liver cancer and liver cirrhosis increased during resent fifteen years. The resent three years, death from those approximately accounted for 30% of all death. Death from those in women were greater than in men, and the average of death age was lower in women than in men.2. From observation of liver function tests during ten years, liver function level of non-drinkers with anti-HCV became stabilized, however those of people with drinking habit kept high level.3. In people with anti-HCV, liver function level of people with heavy work were higher than those with light work : working activity in people with HCV infection influenced liver function test.

为制定丙型肝炎病毒（HCV）潜伏感染者的防治方案，在HCV流行区进行流行病学调查，发现HCV感染率为32.4%。通过调查，我们得到了以下结果：1.从死亡证明书分析，近15年来肝癌和肝硬化死亡呈上升趋势。近三年来，因这些原因死亡的人数约占全部死亡人数的30%。女性死亡率高于男性，平均死亡年龄低于男性.从10年肝功能检测的观察来看，抗-HCV阳性的非饮酒者肝功能水平趋于稳定，而有饮酒习惯者肝功能水平则保持在较高水平.抗-HCV阳性者中，重体力劳动者的肝功能水平高于轻体力劳动者：HCV感染者的工作活动影响肝功能检测。
