本研究では、音声言語の韻律的側面の中でも特にアクセントに着目し、アクセントの生成データ及び知覚データを、0〜5歳児を対象に横断的・縦断的に収集し、獲得過程における言語普遍的特性と個別言語的特性の相対的関係を検討する。アクセント体系の異なる、標準アクセント地域、京阪アクセント地域、二型アクセント地域(鹿児島)の乳幼児および日本語とは異なるストレスアクセントの英語話者の乳幼児を対象として実験を行ない、比較、対照データを収集する。本年度は、以下の実験により成果を得、研究の総括を行なった。(1)アクセント知覚実験:1年次に開発した実験装置、プログラムを改良して用い、東京方言、鹿児島方言の乳幼児および成人を対象に単語アクセントの同定知覚実験を行ない、比較対照データを収集した。その結果、年齢群によらず鹿児島方言話者はアクセントに対する知覚の閾値が低い、いわばアクセント知覚能力が弱いことが明らかとなった。前年度までの研究成果により、鹿児島方言話者の幼児において個別言語的特性を有するアクセントの獲得過程が観察されているが、この点は上記アクセント知覚能力に関連しているものと考えられた。(2)研究の総括:得られた実験データに基づき、獲得過程における言語普遍的特性と個別言語的特性の相対的関係、およびそれらに対する社会言語学的要因を解析した。解析の結果はイタリア・トリエステScuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati(国際先端研究所)認知神経心理部門にて報告され、国外の関連研究者との研究討論が行なわれた。国際会議(Language and Phonetics 2003;於・明海大学)および国内の諸学会においても報告された。これらの議論を含めた研究成果は関連国際学術雑誌へ投稿中である。
