项目摘要

本研究は,タイ語・カンボジア語の韻律特徴(イントネーション・終端延長・ポーズ)などを比較対照し,さらにそこで得られた知見を日本語の韻律教授法へと応用していくことを目的とする.この研究では,この両言語が統語的境界をどのような手段によって表示しているかについての実験的調査をおこなった.その結果タイ語では,境界にポーズがなくても,終端直前の音節を延長することによって境界を表示することができ,かつイントネーションは境界表示にほとんどかかわらないことが明らかになった.一方でカンボジア語は,終端延長では境界を表示することができず,イントネーションの力も一部借りるものの,基本的にはポーズの挿入によって境界を表示することが分かった.一方で日本語(東京方言)は,1)アクセント言語であるが,音調変化のパタンがタイ語ほどダイナミックではないので,イントネーションにも統語的情報を担わせることが可能であり,2)ほとんどの音節が時間的にほぼ等間隔の短い単母音によって構成されているので,音節の伸縮のみによって境界を表示することは困難である.このように,統語的境界をどのような手段によって表示するかは,1)声調・アクセントの有無とその性質,2)どのような構造の音節の出現率が高いか,というような事項と密接な関係があるらしいということがわかる.こういう視点は,タイ語・カンボジア語のみならず,その他の言語,特に東・東南アジア地域の諸言語と日本語との韻律を対照する際にきわめて有用であると考えられる.今後はこの研究で得られた知見をもとに,さらに数多くの言語と日本語との韻律対照研究をおこなっていく予定である.
