2000年から2001年にかけて、タンザニア連合共和国マハレ山塊国立公園に生息する野生チンパンジーを対象とした行動観察データの分析を行った。ビジランス行動(視覚的に外界を探索する行動)と自己指向性転位行動であるRough self-scratchingを行動学的指標として用いて、個体のストレス状態を計測した。その結果、近接個体との社会関係の親和度が個体のストレスレベルに影響し、非親和的な個体が近接しているときにストレス指標の頻度が上昇することが明らかになった。一方、近接個体との相対的順位関係は個体のストレスレベルに一貫して影響しなかった。また、オスの絶対的順位とストレス指標頻度の間には正の相関が見られ、高順位オスのストレスレベルは低かったことが示唆された。これらの研究は関連国内外の学会にて発表され、現在投稿準備中である。研究期間中に観察された集団間敵対交渉の事例を分析し、査読国際誌American Journal of Primatologyに発表した。野生チンパンジーの葛藤解決行動に関して、標準的な分析方法であるPC-MC比較法を用いて分析した。その結果、研究対象集団において、仲直り行動、慰め行動、宥め行動が攻撃後に特徴的な行動と認められた。攻撃個体と被攻撃個体間の社会関係の質が仲直り行動の生起に常に影響していなかった。これらの研究は現在投稿改訂中である。また、霊長類における文献データより、社会構造や性淘汰に関する形質の進化に影響を及ぼした要因に関するメタアナライシスを行った。
