The purpose of this research is to find temporal systemization of cognitive-map acquisition by psychophysical method and physiological method using MEG, We developed a heuristic algorithm to localize the neural source from the MEG measurement during cognitive-map acquisition. Then, we investigated change of acquired cognitive map while learning virtual environment with various landmark information by psychophysical and MEG experiments.1. We developed a heuristic algorithm to localize the neural sources from the MEG measurement during cognitive-map acquisition.2. We investigated roles of landmark information for way finding and acquisition of cognitive map in virtual environment by psychophysical experiments.3. We found that acquired cognitive map was significantly different as a function of localization of landmark information. We also found that it was essential for successful wayfinding to maintain information about orientation.4. We have started MEG experiment to find temporal systemization of neural mechanisms for cognitive-map acquisition. The experiment is under way to collect data from more subjects and to find more concrete conclusion.
