整数論において,様々なゼータ関数,L関数が導入されてきた。これらの関数が素数の分布に関する研究に有効な役割を果たすことはよく知られている。更に,これらの関数は数学や物理の様々な分野にも現われており,それ自身が興味深い研究対象となっている。私は,これらの関数のうちで最も基本的なものであるリーマンゼータ関数を関数解析の立場から研究した。リーマンゼータ関数の値は極めて複雑な挙動をもつが,一方で,三角多項式と呼ばれる基本的な関数との関連性も有する。関数解析において,与えられた関数を三角多項式で近似する場合,その関数のスペクトル集合を考察し応用するという手法がある。私はこの手法を深く研究し,リーマンゼータ関数のスペクトル集合を完全に決定することができた。この結果と平均値理論を結合させ,リーマンゼータ関数はある関数空間において,ある意味で,ランダムにふるまうという結論を得た。一方で,リーマンゼータ関数をある関数空間上の汎関数とみなすことに成功した。これはHelson氏の先駆的な研究を補うものである。Helson氏はL関数を汎関数とみなし関数解析の理論を展開したが,リーマンゼータ関数は氏の考察した関数たちに属していない。私はHelson氏の理論を,リーマンゼータ関数も含むような汎関数の集まりに対して拡張することができた。以上の成果の一部は内外の研究集会で発表するとともに,三編の論文にまとめ,現在,雑誌社に投稿中である。

In integer theory, the number of relations between L and L is introduced. The study of the distribution of prime numbers has been carried out.
