古代インドの宗教儀礼であるシュラウタ祭式の新月満月祭(DP)の歴史的発展の跡を辿り、その背景にある宗教思想の変化を明らかにするべく、ヴェーダ文献を以下のように分析した。学会誌に投稿する予定である。1.DP一般に関して新月祭満月祭ともにその主要供物は二つのケーキである。新月祭においてはサーンナーイヤという乳製品の供物が献じられる場合もある。このサーンナーイヤは、これまで酸乳と加熱された乳の混合物であると定義されてきた。しかし、この語の祭式綱要書での用例を検討し、混合物という説明が不適切であることを明らかにした。サーンナーイヤとは酸乳と加熱された乳を供物として飽くまで概念上合わせたものであり、またその準備段階の生乳をも意味し、混合前の状態でサーンナーイヤと呼ばれていることを示した。さらに新月祭においてこのサーンナーイヤが献じられる場合には、それは二つ目のケーキの代わりに献じられるというのが学会の定説であるが、それは少なくとも古層、中層の祭式綱要書においては誤りである。サーンナーイヤの有無に関わらず新月祭においてケーキの数は二つであり、サーンナーイヤが献じられる場合にはそれは二つのケーキに加えて献じられるのである。2.ヴァードゥーラ派の新月満月祭について祭式綱要書を研究することによって、同派のDPに固有の特徴を見いだした。まず「低声の献供」と呼ばれる献供の際に飯を供物とする点、アグニホートラ祭の規定を取り入れている点、雨乞いの儀礼を取り入れている点、他派においては祭式要素と見なされている荷車を用いない点等が特異である。さらに主要献供規定の整合性に欠ける点も注目される。3.DP規定から見える各学派の影響関係各文献のDPに関する規定及び用いられるマントラを比較することによって、学派間の影響関係を考察した。
