研究課題の多項式自己同型の力学系を、より広い立場からとらえるため、射影空間の一般の有理写像について、一般理論をめざした。とくに、ファトウ集合上の力学系と不定点との関係に集点をあて、ファトウ成分の分類の第一歩といえる、かなり、著しい新現象を発見することができた。さらに、ファトウ成分のシュタイン性等の新しい証明をみつけ、既存の結果を拡張できた。この分野の基礎的文献となっている諸々の論文の結果に対して、改良を与えることに成功した。以上の内容をまとめた論文が、Michigan Mathematical Journalにより受理された。
