项目摘要

映画が、演劇やオペラなど様々な舞台芸術とどのような関係を持ち、その関係の中からどのように映画の独自性を確立してきたか、また、舞台芸術との間でどのような相互作用が起きたか。平成15年度は、この問題を、主として欧米の映画作品と舞台芸術について、歴史的な展開と構造的な特性の両面から考察した。また、本研究はその対象を映画に限定しては成立しないので、映画が関係を持った舞台芸術の実態を、表現構造・様式・文化的意味などについて、舞台・映像・言説などの多面的な資料体の構成とその分析によって明らかにするよう試みた。オペラの新演出やコンテンポラリー・ダンスといった、現代ヨーロッパの舞台芸術の最前衛とも言うべき分野が映画芸術と切り結ぶ関係を重点的に取り上げ、その成果の一部は、オペラ芸術についての画期的な入門書『オペラって、何?』(新書館)に発表した論考、「フィガロの結婚」、「メリー・ウィドウ」、「ヴォツェック」、「オペラと映画のスリリングな関係」、「世界のオペラ・フェスティバル」にまず結実した。これらの論考は、オペラ作品の劇構造の分析や主要な上演史はもちろんのこと、パトリス・シェローやジョルジオ・ストレーレルなど現代の先鋭的な舞台演出家による前衛的な演出の歴史的・構造的分析、そして、映画芸術とオペラとが切り結ぶ創造的な関係を論じたものであり、通念的なオペラ入門を超えて昨今の演劇や映像芸術の研究をも射程に入れて執筆した。また、それと平行して、舞踊専門誌「ダンスマガジン」においても、「ダンスによるアンガージュマンケースマイケルのソロ『ワンス』」(2003年4月号)、「身体と大気の戯れ勅使川原三郎『AIR』」(2003年5月号)、「フランス・ダンスのいま進化するドゥクフレ・マジック」(2003年10月号)、「ジル・ロマンの野心的な振付ベジャール&ロマン『フェリーニへのオマージュ』」(2004年2月号)などの論考を発表した。これらは、映像表現と舞台芸術を刺激的に融合する現代の振付家・演出家、アンヌ・テレサ・ド・ケースマイケル、勅使川原三郎、フィリップ・ドゥクフレを主にテーマとした論考であり、映画、ダンス、パフォーマンスなど複数のジャンルを横断する脱=領域的な芸術創造を分析している。また、二十世紀の舞踊史における特権的な振付家、モーリス・ベジャールとそのダンサー、ジル・ロマンが映画監督フェデリコ・フェリーニへオマージュを捧げた新作の舞台をテーマとしたテキストでは、映画芸術の記憶が舞踊創造といかなるインターフェースを作り上げるのか論じた。文献資料や映像資料など多様な資料を収集・編集するとともに、振付家・演出家の「創造の現場」をも視野に入れた「フィールド・ワークによる演出作業の動態調査」を前年度より組織的に行なうため、平成15年度の科学研究費補助金でコンピュータ関連機器を購入し、上記の論文と資料の作成に大いに活用することができた。今後の研究においても、これらの資料の充実した活用を実践していきたいと考えている。
