This survey is about Shikoku Henro Pilgirimage which is the most famous one in Japan, and about 300.000 pilgrims today. This pigrimage involves 1400 kilometers long, and simply because of it, it is quite difficult for understand the whole pilgrimage in the limited length of time. In this study, therefore, I focussed on a several important aspects of the pilgrimage to well understand its present situation.First of all, the question is to find out whether the traditional custom of settai (alms given to the pilgrims) has been transformed through implementing the questionare to the people along the pilgrimage roads in Tokushima and Kochi prefectures.Secondly, we already know that more and more pilgrims publish the diaries and the notes about the own pilgrimage experiences. Some of them open their own homepages in order to publicize their experiences. The publications are quite valuable for us to know what has been happening to the present pilgrimage itself and how the pilgrimage has given the tremendous amount of influence to pilgrims physically and mentally both. I will continue this study in the future field works.The walking pilgrims, now numbering about 5000 persons every year, in various ways, contact the nature in Shikoku Island. It is quite interesting to investigate how the nature's circumstance such as rain, heat, winds and landscape affect the pilgrims bodies and mind. This study can be done by the interviews and their publications. This study will be continued in the next year.Moreove, I visited many pilgrimage temples to know what has been happening in the Shikoku Pigrimage and acquired many information.

这次调查是关于四国恒路朝圣，这是在日本最有名的一个，约300.000朝圣者今天。这趟朝圣行程长达1400公里，正因为如此，在有限的时间里要了解整个朝圣过程是相当困难的。因此，在本文的研究中，笔者着重从朝圣的几个重要方面来了解朝圣的现状。首先，问题在于传统的朝圣习俗是否通过对德岛县和高知县的朝圣之路沿着的人们实施问卷调查，（给予朝圣者的施舍）得到了转变。其次，我们已经知道，越来越多的朝圣者把自己的朝圣经历写成日记，笔记出版出来。他们中的一些人开设了自己的主页，以宣传他们的经验。这些出版物对我们了解目前的朝圣本身发生了什么以及朝圣如何对朝圣者的身心产生了巨大的影响是非常有价值的。在今后的田野工作中，我将继续这一研究。现在每年约有5000人的徒步朝圣者，以各种方式接触四国岛的自然。考察自然环境如雨、热、风和风景如何影响朝圣者的身心是很有趣的。这项研究可以通过访谈和他们的出版物来完成。这项研究将在明年继续进行。此外，我参观了许多朝圣寺庙，了解了四国朝圣发生了什么，并获得了许多信息。
