生後8週齢のウイスター系ラット20匹を用いて、実験的露髄(4週)と実験的露髄(2週)および再植(2週間)を行い、抜歯窩掻爬内に抗菌剤、Ca(OH)2を貼付し、根尖部歯槽骨吸収および回復像を組織学的、組織形態計測学的に検索した。実験的露髄4週根部歯髄は全体的に壊死に陥り、根管の内面には部分的に石灰化物の沈着が見られた。根尖部には膿瘍が存在し、根尖部歯根膜組織の炎症性細胞浸潤と歯槽骨の吸収が強く見られた。実験的露髄2週後、再植2週実験的露髄4週と同様に根尖部歯槽骨に吸収が見られるが、掻爬しているため膿瘍は存在していなかった。実験的露髄4週のものよりも骨吸収像は強く、また、根尖部歯根膜組織には強度の好中球の浸潤が見られた。実験的露髄2週、抜歯窩掻爬内に抗菌剤貼付、再植2週無貼付のものと同様に根尖部歯槽骨に吸収が見られるが、根尖部歯根膜組織の炎症性細胞浸潤はやや少なかった。実験的露髄2週、抜歯窩掻爬内にCa(OH)2貼付、再植2週抗菌剤を貼付したものとほぼ同様の所見が認められた。組織形態計測学的所見実験的露髄4週と実験的露髄2週後、再植2週および抜歯窩掻爬内に抗菌剤貼付、Ca(OH)2貼付したものを比較した結果、有意な差はないものの根尖部歯槽骨吸収の面積は実験的露髄2週後、再植2週が最も大きく、次に、抗菌剤貼付、Ca(OH)2貼付したもの、最も小さかったのは実験的露髄4週であった。上記の結果から、実験的露髄2週および再植2週においては抜歯するという不便宜的な部分はあるものの病巣内を掻爬することができ、なおかつ抜歯窩掻爬内に抗菌剤、Ca(OH)2を貼付することによって、実験的露髄4週とほぼ同様の根尖部歯槽骨の吸収像が認められたという興味ある発見が得られた。
