本研究の目的は、「数学的問題解決における知識を活用する能力」を「方略的能力」と捉え、方略的能力が問題解決に果たす役割を理論的・実証的に検討することである。本年度は、数学的には定式化が十分でない「現実的な問題」の解決において機能する「広義の方略的能力」について実証的に検討した。今日、数学教育研究において、Verschaffel, L., Greer, B., De Corte, E.らによる文章題解決の研究が注目されている。これらの研究では、「現実的な問題」において、解決者がその要因を無視して問題を解決するという現象に焦点があてられている。Verschaffelらの研究やその追試的研究では、「現実的な問題」の正答率は低く、それらの問題が通常の問題とは異なることを被験者に「注意」しても事態が容易には好転しないことが報告されている。しかしながら、そうした研究では、被験者の学力が「現実的な問題」の解決に与える影響について、あまり考慮されていない。そこで、申請者は、我が国の平均的な小学生よりは数学的な学力が高い国立大学付属小学校第5学年の児童79名を対象に調査を実施し、そうした点を実証的に検討した。主要な結果として、次の点が挙げられる。・「注意」を与えた群(実験群)は、そうでない群(統制群)よりも「現時的な問題」を成功的に解決した。・ある問題については、統制群の正答率は、先行研究のそれよりも高かった。・解決に成功的な児童は、「具象化」,「数量化」,「図形化」,「場合分け」といった「広義の方略的能力」を成功的に機能させていた。
