The Walczak group recently found that upon TLR3 stimulation, different from TNFR1 signalling and despite LUBAC also forming part of the TLR3 signaling complex, TBK1 activation is independent from LUBAC. Parting therefrom, another E3 ligase was now identified as required for TBK1 activation following TLR3 stimulation. During the next funding period, the role of this enzyme in the regulation of TLR3 signaling will be characterized in vitro and in vivo.
