项目摘要

本年度は、前年度に引き続き、日本およびオーストラリアでの文献資料の収集・分析を行った。特に、オーストラリアの日系移民をはじめとするエスニック・グループと先住民族集団との、歴史・経済的関係についての考察を進めた。こうした分析の成果として、平成15年度には日本の雑誌・編著に3本、海外の雑誌・編著に3本の研究論文を執筆・公刊した(掲載決定済論文を含む)。また各種学会・研究会等での研究発表も精力的に行った。また、こうした研究の一環として、研究テーマに密接に関連する2つの英語著作を翻訳し、刊行することができた。これらの著作は、オーストラリア研究およびアボリジニ研究の分野において、オーストラリアで高い評価を受けたものであり、それを邦訳・出版できた意義は大変に大きいといえる。実際、いずれの邦訳書も、新聞・雑誌の書評欄などで幾度も取り上げられるなど、好評を博している。こうした研究成果の延長線上として、日本語版、英語版ふたつの単著の執筆も進めた。日本語版については、すでに原稿の執筆をほぼ終え、御茶ノ水書房編集部に企画を評価していただき、原稿完成後の同社からの公刊が決定した。2004年6月の刊行を目指し、最終的な編集作業を今年はじめから開始している。英語版著書に関しては、オーストラリアのニュー・サウス・ウェールズ大学出版会と、刊行に関する交渉を進めている。来年度は、引き続き調査を進めるとともに、英語版・日本語版双方の著作の草稿の完成・公刊を目指したい。
