Nursing Care of Cancer Patients Who Decide to Receive Alternative Medicine

The purpose of this study was to examine ways in which cancer patients deal with alternative medicine and nurses' attitudes toward alternative medicine. This study aimed to clarify the roles and functions of nurses regarding alternative medicine, and to determine nursing interventions for cancer patients who have decided to undergo alternative treatmentsSixty-eight cancer patients were included in the study. An interview method was used to examine the situations in which the cancer patients chose to undergo alternative treatments, and qualitative analysis of interview data was then performed. In addition, regarding nurses' attitudes toward alternative medicine, a questionnaire survey was administered to 1, 154 nurses providing care to cancer patients in 223 facilities.
