The aim of this research project is to refine the OSL dating techniques by improving the defects such as poor reproducibility of OSL signals and the sensitivity change of it. It is also focused on reducing the thermal effects in the process of OSL phenomenon by putting the samples in a low temperature and restrain the activation energy of trapped electrons.In 20011. OSL measurements of quartz and feldspar at low temperature. 2. Color images of standard feldspar samples. 3. OSL dating of excavated materials.In 20021. IRSL dating of excavated material by fine grain techniques. 2. Trial of IRSL dating using semi-fine (1-50 μm) grain samples. 3. Trial of single aliquot measurements.As a result, we succeeded to get an optimal condition for the measurements of feldspars and fine grain samples (pre-heat at 160C, measurements at 60C). Anomalous fading was not observed. We found that the conditions of preheat temperature and time of 120C for 10 sec, 200C far 10 sec or 310C for 300 sec are preferable far quartz samples. Quartz samples, however, do not show the reasonable archaeological ages for the excavated materials or strata.
