本研究では,聾学校に在籍する中等部・高校生を対象とした手指メディアの使用状況を調査し,教育歴,生育環境等の関連を検討することとした.また,生徒のメディアの使い分けと状況とメディアに対する満足度も併せて調査し,聾学校生徒のコミュニケーション使用状況を理解するための基礎的資料を得ることを目的とした.・研究1「聾学校中学部・高等部生徒の読唇に及ぼす手がかりの効果」キュー・サインの場合において,中学部では文頭併用条件が最も得点が高く,次に文末併用条件,読唇単独条件が最も低く,高等部では文頭併用条件が他の2条件よりも得点が高かった.手話の場合においては,高等部では文頭併用条件が最も得点が高く,文末併用条件,読唇単独条件が最も低く,中学部では文頭併用条件が他の2条件よりも得点が高かった.・研究2「聾学校高等部生徒における言語媒体の使用状況-相手別の使い分けとその満足度に関する検討-」及ぴ,研究3「聾学校高等部生徒における言語媒体の使用状況-相手別の使い分けと各種要因に関する検討-」日常生活の中で相手別にコミュニケーション手段や言語を変化させながら,意思疎通を図っていることが推察された.コミュニケーション満足度の全体的な傾向については,互いのコミュニケーションにおいて,手指メディアの活用の有無が理解度に影響を与え,それが満足度と直結していることが示唆された.また,聴覚障害のある家族の有無,聴力レベル,教育歴,手話学習を開始した時期の要因が,相手別の言語使用媒体と関係していることが示された.
