カウンセリングや心理療法がその効果を発揮するためには、治療者と患者(またはクライエント)のあいだに作られる信頼関係が治療開始後早期に確立され、維持されることが重要である。この信頼関係は、作業同盟という概念によって理論化され、感情的なつながりと治療的作業や目標に関する合意という二つの基底もとに治療者と患者のあいだに作られる協力関係として理解されている。本研究は、作業同盟がどのように確立されるか、治療者の印象、クライエントの体験尺度を用いた測定値という3つの情報源からの記述を行い、作業同盟の確立に寄与する因子を同定することを目標とした。特に、作業同盟の水準に関するカウンセラーとクライエントの評定のずれが面接の成果とどのような関係をもつのかという点に焦点を当てた。これまで多変量解析手法を用いて、作業同盟の水準や治療者とクライエントの評定のずれが治療の進行とともにどのように変わるのかという点に関して量的分析を主として行った。さらに、特に作業同盟の確立がされなかった事例群と作業同盟が十分に確立された事例群を取り出し、面接のやりとりの内容分析に着手した。その目的は、作業同盟の水準という点で大きく異なる2群を比較することにより、異なる作業同盟水準における面接のやりとりの特徴をより明確にするためであった。今後は作業同盟の確立に寄与する因子をより浮き立たせるために、中断事例を集めて、継続事例との比較を行いたい。治療の事実的な失敗を意味する治療の中断は、作業同盟が確立されなかった典型例である。よって、中断例を上記のような比較をより効果的に行えるであろう。治療の中断を防ぐことは、学校カウンセリング心理療法をはじめ、全ての臨床の場面において極めて重要な課題である点で、中断事例における作業同盟の確立過程をとして含めることは本研究の臨床的意義をさらに高めると考えられる。
