项目摘要

本研究では、集合行動の社会変動に及ぼす影響を国際比較研究データを利用し測定する手法の開発を目的としているが、集合行動タイプのうちとくに流行現象に関わる表象文化の文化秩序の創造・再編プロセスの社会学的分析枠組みの模索に焦点を絞り、理論および実証研究両面での可能性を模索した。理論研究の領域では、文化変動に関わる事象を近年議論されている「社会構築主義」的観点から探求する場合の概念整備と問題点の指摘をおこない、とくに流行研究における定義問題を再考した。そこでは、従来の社会学や社会心理学・マーケティング研究にみられる定義の論理的問題を「モードの集合的操作のプロセス」として再定義することの概念的有効性を確認することによって、社会学的研究の地平をあらたに切り開く可能性を展望した(「社会学年誌」論文を参照)。実証研究に関しては、国際比較研究を可能とするデータ収集・比較方法の開発を視野にいれ、比較対象国であるイタリアと日本での研究知見の総覧作成、研究交流・知見の公表等を実施してきた(2003年度に成果を刊行予定)。これら研究活動の展開を踏まえ、現在、とくに「表象文化の創造力と文化変動」をテーマに、両国間の都市空間のシンボル・イメージ形成をモードの集合的操作という観点から、社会変動(文化秩序の再編)プロセスにみる集合的ダイナミズムの分析を進めている。
