The project will involve research on a robust state estimation and control theory of systems with uncertain and random structure. This theory will be applied to develop new tools for dynamic voltage stability analysis and control of complex power systems by taking into account discrete switching of devices comprising the system. The theory will address both performance and robustness of power systems against variety of uncertainties including those due to modelling errors associated with uncertain nature of discrete switching and nonlinearity of underlying power generation system models.
