In view of the environmental problems, it is desirable that the performance of non-ferrous metal recycling system is improved. The challenge facing engineers is making this recycling process economical, especially for the material.Most of non-ferrous metal products consist of plastic and nonferrous metal. Therefore, recycling these components requires the different materials to be separated so that each can be recycled individually.In this study, the experimental study of plastic-nonferrous metal separation has been performed by means of a vibro-electrostatic separator. The separator consists of a vibratory feeder equipped with two plate electrodes. An analytical solution is provided to estimate the recovery of plastic or nonferrous metal. The separation tests were performed on a sample containing 50% polyvinylchloride (PVC) and 50% aluminum. The influence of electric field strength and amplitude of conveying surface on the separation efficiency was investigated. The purity of PVC was 99.18±0.05% at the recovery of 93.11±0.91%. The purity of aluminum was 99.72±0.07% at the recovery of 90.65±0.79%.
