In 2003,the last year for this project, the following points have been investigated in order to accelerate the diffusion of wind turbine generation systems, and some excellent results have been obtained ;A. MPPT operation of small sized wind turbine generatorsi) Performance evaluation of a 50W output wind turbine generator has been carried out following that in 2002. This year, the large scale wind tunnel in Tokyo Plytechnic University Wind Engineering Center has been utilized for the testing. The comparative study of performance under idealized uniform wind speed and that under using a blower has been investigated in detail. It turned out that the performance characteristics can be sufficiently reproduced by the testing using a small blower, which enables easy testing with in -door conditions.ii) It has been shown that the "Limit cycle MPPT control scheme" which has been developed for a photovoltaic system is also applicable to the wind turbine generation system. Power leveling of fluctuated power using flywheelA control scheme for rotating speed picking-up and constant power acceleration of a flywheel energy storage system, which is one of the important techniques in utilizing flywheels, has been investigated.C. Extraction of the problems in small sized autonomous distributed power supply systemsStability study of equivalent resistance control for an autonomously controlled distributed power supply system has been investigated by calculating the system eigen values. It turned out that the equivalent resistance control which is adopted to stabilize the dc link voltage in steady state condition is not effective for dumping the transient response of the system.
