项目摘要

平成16年度においても、帰化・居留権取得者に関する史料集(Letters of Denization and Acts of Naturalizaion…)の解読とそのデータベース化を前年度に引き続き実施した。また、データ処理と同時に、イギリス議会の議会史料(両院議事録や審議録)とその関連図書、一般帰化法制定に関する文献・史料、ユグノー、パラタイン、ユダヤ人移民関係の文献・史料、ナショナル・アイデンティティ関連の文献・史料の収集を行った。これまでの文献・史料に加えて、新たに収集した文献・史料の整理・精読を進めた。グローバルな視点から帰化法の問題を考察するべく、イングランド(本国)とアイルランドや北米植民地(いわゆる第一次帝国)における帰化法制定と規定内容の比較研究の準備も引き続き進めた。本年度も、帰化法制定や移民政策(とkuに移民支援政策)において、重要な対象となる18世紀初頭のパラティン移民に着目し、イギリス側の外国人支援のありかたについて重点的に研究を進めた。彼らの帝国内移動や彼らへの支援を、移民の国際移動の問題や対ユグノー支援と関連させつつ考察した。現在、パラティン移民に関する研究はまだ途上であるが、そめ成果の一部は2005年2月川北稔・藤川隆男編著『空間のイギリス史』の所収論文(「嫌われ、行き「場のない」可哀想な移民たち」)として刊行された。また、帰化法や国民意識の議論にかかわるパラタイン移民について、基礎的な史料分析を行い、移民集団としての彼らの特徴を明らかにした。その成果は雑誌論文(「『到着者リスト』にみるパラタイン移民」)として今春刊行される予定である。現在は、パラタイン移民とユグノーへの支援策を帰化法制定の議論とナショナル・アイデンティティ形成の問題に関連させつつ分析・考察を進めている。その成果の一部を今年度5月に熊本歴史科学研究会で報告したが、加えて、来年度早々にも論文として公表する予定である。
