An Zirkonen (und soweit vorhanden an Monaziten) aus kristallreichen permokarbonen Laven, Subvulkaniten und Ignimbriten solen SHRIMP-U/Pb-Datierungen durchgeführt werden. Die bereits vorliegenden bzw. noch zu nehmenden Proben stammen aus Bohrungen in Norddeutschland, Dänemark und Polen. Neben einer radiometrischen Datierung des Entstehungsalters der Vulkanite soll die chronostratigraphische Struktur der Kruste (i.w. Ost-Avalonia) bestimmt werden, die die krustale Komponente der Magmen geliefert haben dürften. Geochemische Analysen am Gesamtgestein sollen für eine zusätzliche Charakterisierung der Vulkanite genutzt werden.
