本年度は山東省竜口市近郊農村での聞き取り調査(5月)、香港大学図書館での文献調査(3月)おこない、内モンゴル大学での「2004年中国近現代史研究国際学術交流会」(8月)、山西省平遥市での「"商会与近現代中国"学術研討会」(9月)、京都での日本移民学会ワークショップ(3月)にて研究報告を行った。山東省竜口市周辺は中国東北地域、極東ロシア、大阪、朝鮮半島への漢民族移民の主要出身地であり、地元地方史家を中心に、地域史の掘り起こしが行なわれている。彼らの成果と、研究遂行者が取り組んできた中国東北都市史研究の成果とを照らし合わせることで新たな知見を得ることができた。具体的には、心理的には、山東省北岸と遼東半島は近距離にあると認識されていること。農業収入が不十分であることが従来から指摘されていたが、その不足は渤海湾対岸の東北地域への出稼ぎで補うことが当然だと考えられていることである。その延長として、極東ロシアや日本への出稼ぎが存在するといえる。香港大学図書館での文献調査においては、山東省・中国東北地域で発行されている回顧録口述資料を網羅的に収集し、移民の事跡を追った。これにより出身地と移民先双方での活動を照らし合わせ、パターンを分析することができる。また山東省のある家族の族譜の閲覧をすることができた。竜口市で収集した族譜とともに分析することで、家族形態での移民の概要を検討することができる。同時に、香港では、移民が集まる国際都市であるハルピンと香港の比較について香港研究者との意見交換を行なうことができた。中国東北研究では、外国勢力から中国に自治権が移った点、国際都市という点で、ハルピンと香港の類似性を指摘されることが多かった。今回の交流において、相違点について意見交換を行なうことができた。これらの成果をふまえ東北アジアにおける国際都市と漢民族移民の関係について、今後研究発表を行う予定である。
