いじめが生じる際、そこには必ずコミットメント問題(Schelling,1960)が伴っている。すなわち、被害者はいじめが生じていることを通報したいが、通報した結果、担任が不適切な介入を取ることで事態が悪化することを恐れている。担任は介入したいが通報がない限りうまく介入できない。この問題の解決においては被害者のもつ通報の効果への期待を高めることが必要である。この点について本研究で行った通報の期待の効果と関連する、生徒の心理的変数について報告する。質問紙調査から得られた生徒の心理変数に関する項目23項目に対して主成分分析を行った結果、4主成分が抽出された。各主成分をそれぞれ、担任に対する一般的期待、担任のいじめに対する強い否定、担任の保護者の重要視、担任が他の先生と行動する傾向と解釈した。いじめの有無を独立変数とし、各主成分を従属変数とした一元配置の分散分析を行った結果、担任に対する一般的期待、担任のいじめに対する強い否定とに、有意な差が得られた。すなわち、いじめのないクラスの担任は、いじめのあるクラスの担任よりも、生徒から期待・信頼されており、また、いじめを強く否定している先生だと生徒から認識されている傾向があることが明らかになった。次に、通報の効果への期待に関する項目を従属変数とし、4つの主成分を独立変数として、重回帰分析を行ったところ、4主成分のうち、第1主成分である、担任に対する一般的期待のみで有意な効果が得られた。つまり、この結果は、信頼している担任ならば通報の効果があるが、そうでなければ通報しても効果がないと生徒は考えていることを意味している。興味深いのは、第2主成分が有意でないことである。つまり、このことは担任がいじめを強く否定していることを生徒が知っていたとしても、そのことだけでは、通報に効果があると生徒は考えていないということを意味している。つまり、担任がいじめを強く否定しているかどうかと、その担任に通報して効果があると生徒が考えているかどうかは別のことなのである。全体的な結果として、担任のいじめに対する考え方と実際のいじめ解決能力について、所属する生徒は極めて厳格に評価をしていると言える結果が得られた。
