ウラソゾにおけるケミカルレース相互について、主に培養株を材料としてrbcL遺伝子の塩基配列を決定し比較したところ、株間において差異は認められなかった。このことは、本種におけるケミカルレースの種内分化が、日本海が現在の海洋環境に近くなった地質時代的に見て非常に新しい時代に起きたとする、本研究における作業仮説に矛盾しないものである。サハリンにおける野外調査において、西海岸(日本海側)の数カ所でウラソゾの生育を確認した。なかでもサハリン北部の間宮海峡に近いTangiにおいても採集されたことは、本種の分布域が日本海の北端まで達していることを強く示唆する。なお、サハリン東海岸(オホーツク海)およびカムチャツカ南東海岸(太平洋)における調査では、いずれも本種の生育は確認されなかった。このことは、本種の分布域が対馬暖流とその支流の影響下にある海域に限られるとする、本研究における作業仮説と一致する。サハリン北部のTangiのウラソゾ個体群と、南部のYablochnyyの個体群について、それぞれが生成する二次代謝産物の種類を分析したところ、両者ともにprepacifenolであった。非常に遠距離であるにもかかわらず同じケミカルレースであり、かつprepacifenol raceは北海道北部にも広く分布していることから、北海道北部以北には一様にprepacifenol raceのみが分布している可能性が高いと考えられる。
