デラングは、平成18年8月までの学術振興会特別研究員としての最終の5ヶ月を、研究の最終的な分析と成果発表への準備に当てた。その研究は、これまで林産資源として二次的とされてきた非木材林産物について、日常的利用の観点から、森林地域の住民にとっての重要性を見直そうというものである。大きな問題意識としては第一に、市場向けではない、林産資源の直接消費によって住民の金銭的な負担がどれほど軽減されているかを知ること、第二に、森林の様態の変化などにより林産資源へのアクセスがどのように変化し、消費活動や生業全般にどのような影響があるか、そして第三に、森林の減少・消滅がどのような影響をもたらすか、という問題である。具体的には、昨年度のベトナムのハノイとサバ、そして昨年度末のラオスにおける非木材林産物の調査に基づき、その収集資料の整理・分析・比較、そしてそれに基づく研究発表の準備に当てた。ラオスでは、現地助手が継続的にデータを採取しており、これを解析することができた。また、調査中に形成したネットワークを通じて現地の研究者やNGOと情報の交換を続けている。最終的に二年間の成果として、タイ・ベトナム・ラオスという三つの経済発展の度合いや、少数民族の国家投合の過程、そして森林政策も異なる三つの国において、非木材林産物の調査を行うことで、非常に豊かな比較のための材料が整い、最終年度は、その整理と発表も少し行うことができた。
