ベルギー北部において標準語であるオランダ語とも、さまざまな方言の集合体を意味するフラマン語とも異なる"Tussentaal"(オランダ語中間言語)と呼ばれる言語が広がりを見せている。この言語的バリエーションに関する組織的な調査・分析は少なく、その理論的な位置づけはなされていないのが現状である。本研究は、以下の3点を目的とする。第1に、オランダ語中間言語の諸特徴を調査し、標準語・フラマン語双方からの逸脱状況を明らかにし、特にその形態的・統語的性質を言語理論(特にパラメータ理論)の観点から考察する。第2に、オランダ語中間言語の社会言語学的性質に関する調査も進め、このバリエーションを用いることの意味を明らかにする。最後に、類似する現象が日本(語)にも存在するのか否か、またこれから発生する余地があるか否かという問題に考察を加える。本年度は、主に以下のような作業を行った。まず、昨年度外国人特別研究員がベルギー北部で行ってきた、Tussentaalの特徴の1つとみなされる過去分詞の余剰使用に関する調査の分析を進め、結果を多角的に検討した。若い世代に過去分詞の余剰使用への許容度が高いことから、Tussentaalの定着に関する一つの側面が明らかになったが、この傾向が標準語にどのような影響を及ぼしているのかという問題については、今後さらに検討を加える必要がある。研究成果の一部であるTussentaalの特徴や機能、発生要因などを記した論文は『応用言語学研究』第13号への掲載が決まっている。過去分詞の過剰使用に関する調査をまとめた論文は執筆中の段階である。西欧諸語における過去分詞構文については、研究代表者が東アジア諸語との比較を通じて考察し、その成果の一部はBulletin of the Chinese Linguistic Society of Japanの最新号に掲載されている。
