研究課題の目的である初期中世アイルランドにおける法律文書編纂過程および裁判システムの解明のために、これまでフィリ(fili)、教会聖職者らの役割、世俗裁判と教会裁判の関係について研究を進めてきたが、本年度は主に以下の研究を行った。昨年度から引き続き、判決人(brithem)および弁護人など関連の職業について考察を行った。その際には、未翻訳・未編纂史料を重点的に読み進めた。さらに法文書以外の傍証史料(主として年代記)についても網羅的に検討した。その考察の一端は英語論文としてまとめることができた。また、世俗支配者の裁判における役割についても史料の分析と考察を進めた。昨年、一昨年からの研究内容と合わせて、初期中世アイルランドの裁判やその他の紛争解決に携わった各種の人々に関する個別の検討を終えた。その上で、これまでの成果をもとに、訴訟に携わった人々の関係やそれぞれの固有の役割、世俗裁判と教会裁判の関係、そのなかでもとりわけ世俗の裁判のシステムの全容についての考察を行った。ほぼ同時代のブリテン島や西ヨーロッパとの比較も加味しつつ、アイルランドにおける政治社会情勢の特徴との関連についても分析を行うことで、初期中世アイルランドの裁判や紛争解決制度の特質について、新しい像を提示する展望が開けた。本年度内には公刊の機会を得なかったが、早急に内容をまとめ成果の発表を行いたい。
